Autographed books are a wonderful way for students to remember the experience of the author visit (and make great gifts, too!). If you’ve never ordered books for an author visit before, Sudipta will work with you to make it go smoothly for parents, students, teachers, and, well, herself. Ideally, the books will be pre-sold a few weeks before the visit. To help you with the process, Sudipta will give you a book order form personalized for your school (there is a sample here on the website for you to peruse).
Book orders can be done in a few different ways:
1. You can arrange the order through a local, independent bookstore. They will give you a 20% discount on each book, and can usually provide the books very quickly.
2. You can order directly from the publishers — a great option because of the 40-50% discount that they usually offer. Some schools pass the savings to the students while other schools use the money saved to help defray the cost of the visit. The customized book order form will reflect the discount your school chooses to give.
3. Sudipta can usually bring a limited amount of books to sell on the day of the visit, but this is only for last minute sales and not for the bulk of the book ordering (She can’t carry 100 books — she’s small!).

By the way, Sudipta is very sensitive to the fact that not all parents will opt to purchase books, and that can be hard for a kid. So no one ever leaves her presentations empty handed - she provides a number of giveaways to the children, from bookmarks to magnets to postcards to stickers, so that everyone has a special souvenir to take home.
