Picture Books take a long time to complete!

Sometimes, a story can take a few weeks to write.  Or sometimes, it can take years to finish!  And after the words are written, the artist has to create the pictures.  That process can take months or years as well.

Long story short, there are a lot of Sudipta’s stories that will be books, just not for a little while yet.  But we’re excited about them anyway!

A preview of what's to come
  • Quack! Illustrated by the fabulous Brian T. Jones (Abrams, 2010) - Meet Quack, a lonely duck with a diabolical plan: to hatch himself a family. Mix one foul-mooded fowl with one orphaned egg and the results may be truly monstrous...

  • Snoring Beauty (HarperCollins, forthcoming) - Poor Mouse… He’s getting married in the morning, but he can’t get to sleep – not while Sleeping Beauty snores away!  Can he find a way to break the spell in time to say “I do”?

  • The Hampire Illustrated by Howard Fine (HarperCollins, 2011) - Every night, while the farm is sleeping, the Hampire goes out creeping.  What happens when Duck needs a midnight snack?  Will a hungry Hampire snack on Duck?

  • Pirate Princess Illustrated by Jill McElmurray (HarperCollins, forthcoming) - Princess Bea has one dream – the pirate’s life.  Will she make it on the high seas?

  • Half Pint Pete, the Pirate Illustrated by Geraldo Valerio (Putnam, forthcoming) - Half Pint Pete, the Pirate had sailed half the seven seas, but with only half a treasure map, can Pete’s dreams come true?

  • SPLATypus! Illustrated by Ivan Bates (Putnam, forthcoming) - Can a clumsy platypus find some friends, or will his dreams go SPLAT!
